Front Cover Textual Analysis

This is a Front Cover of the Magazine 'Jewel', featuring the artist 'Ciara'. First I am going to discuss the use of colours that has been used.

Colours
These colours that have been used, are stereotypically femimine. We would normally say that red connotes romance, therefore I believe that the target audience for this magazine, is women. The other dominant colour that has been used is brown, which connotes a warm atmosphere.

NVC
The Non-Verbal Communication from the subject tells us that she represents all strong black women, who could also be part of the target audience. Shes has placed her right hand on her right shoulder and is stood up straight, giving direct eye contact, connoting confidence. Also her hair coming down her face, connotes that this magazine is for females. Also looking at her costume we see at the top part of her dress, is quiet reviling and her dress is well fitted. I think this has been done to emphasize her sexyness.

Lighting
The lighting used in this magazine has been used effectively, because we have high key lighting shinning on her skin, making her skin look soft and smooth. This connotes to all female audiences, that they would also love to have soft smooth skin and look beautiful. This will attract a wider female audience to the magazine.

Target Audience
The target audience of this magazine are young black females, in particular from the ages of 30 and above. I believe this is because of the magazines smart and sophisticated look.
