Preliminary Mood Board

This is my Mood Board that I have Created for my Preliminary task, and the process through making my music magazine. The reason for using a Mood Board, is to help me brainstorm what my music genre is actually all about. Another reason for creating a mood board is to help me know how my music genre really started and how it developed over the years(historical background), for example the Ghana flag that you see placed on my mood board, is to show the cultural background of the music. Analysing my mood board, you can see that I have featured some of the well known Ghana artist. My reason for doing this is because I wanted to get familiar, with the western side of music and know how they are like. The colour themes that you mainly see here, is red, yellow and green. I think the reason is because, ghana people are proud people. Also the country flag cloures hold meanings, for example the red, connotes the blood that was shared at slavary in Ghana, the yellow to represent their gold and green the green land.

Preliminary Task: Profiling Audience

Hi, my name is Tanisha. I am 20 of age. I come from a musical background, my father used to be a musician way back in the 60s, his music band was called Life and living it. The type of genre music he played was high life from Ghana, and my mum used to sing in church. The genre high life is all about the old people who suffred from slavery, so music was more meaningful and historical. Music has been apart of me ever since I was a little girl my life has been pratcily been african music. When I was growing up, grew up Learning to love another type of Ghanian music genre which is hip life. Hip life is more of me becuase its all about african music bringing hip hop into africa. In my personal free time I love to, sing, dance, act and go shopping.

Double Page Spread Textual Analysis

The Double Page I have chosen is of Shakira. My reason for choosing this specific double page is because, I have observed how Shakira has progressed over the years as an individual . Looking at this double page Ive seen a matured, different, independent women.

The NVC that she portrays here, is sexiness, she does this by having no top on in one of her images ,facial expression looking directly to her consumers sexy with a direct mode of adress, and the mouth little open to also convey sexiness. Analysing the way she has been placed, we see shes relaxed in the larger image by sitting back on a chair, looking calm, with her legs up on the table crossed. Perhaps this is to convey to her target audience that she has some sought of power. Also looking at this image now that she is successful with her music indecently, life's going well for her and now enjoying her money.

lighting

The lighting used on the double page has been used effectively, because we have high key lighting shinning on her face and skin, to convey making her skin look beautiful, and clear. This connotes to all females individually are all beautiful and dont need a male figure to take care of youthat you can be beautiful but not become strong and successful, maybe the message she is giving out is that you can be beautiful and become someone in life.

The colours that have been used here, are stereotypical colours for example the colour red connotes love and romance and also the blue is seen as a masculine colour. So this connotes that maybe her her target audience is amid at both male and females.

Setting
The setting has been carefully thought about, because it gives out a clear message

Front Cover Textual Analysis

This is a Front Cover of the Magazine 'Jewel', featuring the artist 'Ciara'. First I am going to discuss the use of colours that has been used.

Colours
These colours that have been used, are stereotypically femimine. We would normally say that red connotes romance, therefore I believe that the target audience for this magazine, is women. The other dominant colour that has been used is brown, which connotes a warm atmosphere.

NVC
The Non-Verbal Communication from the subject tells us that she represents all strong black women, who could also be part of the target audience. Shes has placed her right hand on her right shoulder and is stood up straight, giving direct eye contact, connoting confidence. Also her hair coming down her face, connotes that this magazine is for females. Also looking at her costume we see at the top part of her dress, is quiet reviling and her dress is well fitted. I think this has been done to emphasize her sexyness.

Lighting
The lighting used in this magazine has been used effectively, because we have high key lighting shinning on her skin, making her skin look soft and smooth. This connotes to all female audiences, that they would also love to have soft smooth skin and look beautiful. This will attract a wider female audience to the magazine.

Target Audience
The target audience of this magazine are young black females, in particular from the ages of 30 and above. I believe this is because of the magazines smart and sophisticated look.
